Sophia

Sophia joined the FPAS family in April 2021, rescued from a small town nearby. She was in a dangerous situation, as her owner refused to keep her fenced in, allowing her to roam freely and wreak havoc on the neighbors’ gardens. One neighbor, frustrated with the constant damage, had threatened to shoot her, while another, concerned for her safety, sought a humane solution. The owner, who couldn’t be bothered to keep her safe or contained, and gave the shocking ultimatum to the neighbors: either find Sophia a new home or shoot her if needed.

Fortunately, the kind neighbor intervened, capturing Sophia in a crate and reaching out to FPAS for help. He had already loaded her onto a trailer to keep her safe from the threatening neighbor and desperately needed a rescue willing to take her in. As the only local farm animal rescue, FPAS became Sophia’s last hope.

At around three years old, Sophia arrived at the sanctuary overweight, unspayed, and wary but still friendly. Despite her cautious nature, she quickly showed a gentle disposition. Over time, she began to trust, even taking treats from Skye’s hand. Since her arrival, she’s been spayed, has shed the extra weight, and has settled into life with the Dreamhouse herd. Sophia is a beautiful girl and has the most precious face.

Sophia’s journey is a testament to the importance of community and compassion. Thanks to the efforts of a concerned neighbor she found true sanctuary, she now has a loving home where she is respected and cared for, free from harm and uncertainty. Although still a bit shy, she has made significant progress and continues to blossom.
