Pickles
The Big Dill
Mr. Pickles and his mother, Olive, became part of the FPAS family in early 2020 after being rescued from a nearby small town. They were found through a Craigslist ad offering them for free to the first taker—a risky situation for any animal, especially pigs. Olive had wandered into someone’s yard and given birth to Pickles there. When the homeowners grew tired of their yard being rooted up, they decided to give the pair away. Skye and her team acted quickly to bring these sweet pigs to safety in their local community.
Pickles was tiny but appeared to have been just weaned when they arrived at FPAS. Within a week, he was neutered and moved into the house, as is customary for most piglets at the sanctuary. Indoor living helps young piglets with socialization, bonding, and safety. About a month later, Olive surprised everyone by giving birth to another piglet! Skye had assumed Olive’s round shape was due to recently having Pickles, but baby Raisin’s arrival showed otherwise. Interestingly, both Pickles and Raisin were born as single piglets in their respective litters, which is quite rare.
Pickles has always had a gentle nature and formed a quick bond with his little brother Raisin. The two remain inseparable, sharing a close and loving bond that continues to this day.
