Ollie
The OGP (Original Pig)
Ollie, the very first pig at FPAS, joined the sanctuary in March 2014 as a tiny baby still drinking milk. His journey with the Franklin family began when Skye received a Facebook message from a high school acquaintance who had impulsively bought Ollie at a flea market but couldn’t keep him. Without hesitation, Skye welcomed this precious little piglet into her family, and their adventure with pigs began.
With no prior experience with pigs, Skye quickly dove into research and discovered the realities of pig care, from pan feeding to the importance of pig companionship, as well as the sad truth about the “teacup pig” myth that leads to so many pigs in need of rescue. Ollie became the catalyst for Skye’s passion for advocating for pigs and animals of all kinds.
Ollie taught the family that pigs are truly extraordinary beings. His sweet, friendly nature and love for belly rubs have made him a beloved member of the sanctuary, as well as a favorite among volunteers and visitors. His gentle soul is a constant reminder to Skye of why she has dedicated her life to making a difference in the lives of pigs and other animals.
Ollie may not be the biggest, smallest, oldest, or youngest at the sanctuary, but he was the first. He’s the reason Skye and her children came to love pigs and began their mission to help these wonderful animals. Ollie holds a special place in the family’s hearts and has forever changed the course of their lives.
