Sparky

Sparky joined the family as a kitten in May 2015 when Skye overheard someone planning to drop him off at the dump the next day. From the start, Sparky has been a loving and well-behaved cat—a true joy to be around.

Sparky is affectionately known as our “pig cat” because he chose to live with the pigs, becoming part of their herd. He bonded with Dasher the Flying Pig when he was a kitten and Dasher was just a piglet. Sparky stayed indoors with him most of the time, but when Dasher decided to spend more time outside, Sparky followed. Now, Sparky spends almost all of his time with our main potbelly pig herd, known as Gen Pop, which is Dasher’s herd.

A few years ago, Sparky had a minor leg injury and spent a few weeks on "bed rest" in the kids' bathroom. During that time, he surprised us all by teaching himself how to use the toilet! The first time Summer heard what sounded like running water, she discovered Sparky on the potty and luckily managed to capture it on video.

Sparky is a beautiful, gentle soul and, as his toilet training proves, exceptionally intelligent. He can almost always be found lounging with the pigs, who are also incredibly smart. After all, you know what they say  "Birds of a Feather Flock Together"—and Sparky clearly knows who the smartest ones on the farm are!
